Welcome to our second Weekly News Roundup, in which we recap all the happenings around Dead Matter from the past week.
Earlier this week Development Vlog #8 was released, if you haven't yet, you should definitely watch it. Other than that, not much has happened. One new weapon, one new item, and a little footage from current work on the Zombies and Map.
New Weapon: Maxim 9
A new weapon has been added to the game, the SilencerCo Maxim 9. Made by Dead Matter contributor Stefan Engdahl, the Maxim 9 is a integrally suppressed 9mm handgun.
New Item: Radio
The water-resistant AM/FM/TV1/TV2/Weather Receiver is basically a radio, a crank operated radio. Made by Dead Matter contributor Brady Saunders, it looks more like a photo than something from a game, the level of detail on this thing is incredible.
LODeer
On Twitter the team shared how Zombies and Deer will be rendered at a distance. LOD (Level Of Detail) is a common practice in games, reducing graphical fidelity based on the distance to an object or entity to the player.
Zombie Work
From Gunschlinger's Twitch stream we got some interesting footage from the current work being done on the Zombies. First we see a burning Zombie and its reaction to it, and secondly we got to see 100 Zombies on the screen at the same time with a stable framerate.
Map Work
Last but not least, a few impressions from MacShirk's Twitch streams. A new building that he just finished up, a shot of Dead Man's Flats and a quick glimpse of the current state of the map.
