Welcome to our eighth Weekly News Roundup, in which we report the news surrounding Dead Matter from the past week(s).

Canmore Impressions

Lead artist Spacetimebender has been working hard on designing the map. He's currently focused on building the town of Canmore and the surrounding area. The pictures shown here depict the area before the outbreak, he will then do a second pass to add details that'll show the panic and destruction that resulted from the outbreak.

Emergency Vehicles

Nihito has been working on the burned variants of emergency vehicles that you'll see across the map. He also added new light bars to them and improved their effects.

Crashed Vehicle Variants

Along with the emergency vehicles, Nihito also tried to find the most efficient way of creating damaged variants of the vehicles that are already in the game. Here are some examples.

Props (Propane)

And last but not least, Nihito has created these propane gas related props, a valuable resource when it comes to building your home.

New Weapon: Remington 700

Stefan Engdahl impresses us once again with his high quality work on the weapons for Dead Matter. This time he created the Remington 700 bolt-action centerfire rifle.

New Weapon: VZ58

Another new weapon that we didn't see before is the VZ58, for which Shiny Haxorus is working on animations.

Mine Update & Ventilator

Nomad has continued his work on the underground mining complex, fleshing out the place with details and interactive features. He has been working on finalizing the electrical system and making it more flexible. Besides that he turned the big ventilators found in the mine into a possible suicide device...

Lockpicking

Gunschlinger has been working on the lockpicking system for the game. Here you can see it in action. If you've played Fallout or Skyrim you'll recognize the mechanics right away.

Props and Furnishings

The Rizzler is providing the level designed with props and furnishings to add to the world of Dead Matter. To give them more freedom of choice, he made it easy to change between variants, everything can be mixed and matched. Here we see some example of what he created.

Toilet Paper

The new 64 rolls hoarder pack, grab it while you can! (Lessons learned from a real pandemic.)
