Author Note: This post was made during the Dead Matter development and some of the information provided may be outdated at the time of reading. The images in this post are screenshots from a video, we apologize for the blurriness and low quality.
Commercial Buildings
A set of commercial buildings have been finished and received a polish pass, unfortunately this one image is all we got to see from that.
Pizzeria
A new small pizzeria has been added to the Gameworld, where you might find leftover ingredients.
Clothing Store
This new clothing store has been added.
Mattress Store
A new mattress store, useful in singleplayer and coop, where you'll be required to sleep.
Dollar Store
A dollar store, where you might find food items with low nutritional value or other cheap miscellaneous items.
Hardware Store
A new hardware store is in the works, where you'll be able to find melee weapons and crafting supplies.
Hair Salon
A barber shop, nothing spectacular, just adds some realism and you might be able to find the odd crafting item here.
Small Grocery Store
A small grocery store for you to scavenge through.
Book Store
A small book store. Books can be used to improve your characters abilities such as repair and crafting.
Jimmy's
Basically a small coffee shop akin to Starbucks.
Winslow's Burger Chain
Winslow's Family Friendly Burger Chain - a small fast food diner.
Dick's Diner
Dick's Diner is another chain of fast food diners in Dead Matter.
Safewee Supermarket
The Safewee supermarket, named after one of the Kickstarter backers, is currently the largest building in Dead Matter.
Many commercial buildings will have employee only areas, just like in real-life, where you will find bathrooms which can be a source for fresh water until the pipes run dry.
Misc Props & Buildings
Developer Nomad has been working on some miscellaneous props and two new buildings, a video rental place and a bicycle shop. These two buildings are not yet finished.
New Cliffs & Rocks
Developer Shirk has created some new cliff and rocks models to be used across the map.
Lighting System Improvements
Some enhancements have been made to the game's ambient lighting system, now the time of day, weather and sun angle affect the color and specular strength of the light source.
Police Station
This time we get to see a lot more of the police station that was teased in the previous Dev Vlog and it looks great! It is the second largest building in dead Matter currently, containing offices, cells, a vehicle garage, an armory and an evidence locker.
It also features an underground section, what is down there? We don't know yet, but bring a flashlight in case the power goes out.
Inertia & New Weapons
The weapon movement in the game now uses inertia, like any modern game. Heavier weapons such as the AK have more inertia. The weapon movement now feels less floaty and more responsive.
Besides that we got some new weapons. The G18C, a rare late game pistol, the M1911 and the Mosin Nagant Rifle.
New Gore System
A new GPU based gore system was added, which looks great and is performance friendly.
Inventory & Clothing System
Some improvements were made to the inventory, drag and drop now feels more responsive. The first iteration of the clothing system has been added.
Leaning & Ballistics
Dead Matter now features leaning, something that was common in most shooter games from the 90s and early 2000s, unfortunately missing from most games these days, I'm very glad to see it here.
The ballistics in the game have been greatly improved, they now properly simulate bullet penetration and ricochet.
Signs, Dishes & Plates
Highway signage in Dead matter will not just be decoration but will be accurate and help players to navigate the world.
The game features a minor system, making sure that satellite dishes always point south.
License plates for cares will be randomly generated so every car has a unique one.
