Development Diary #12, posted on April 17th, 2018, on the official Dead Matter Forums.
In this dev diary we take a look at new sky and clouds, road cracks, a bunch of new commercial buildings, new weapons, camping trailer and more.
This was the last entry in the Development Diaries on the official Dead Matter Forums. The written diaries were discontinued and replaced by status updates in video format, posted on the Dead Matter YouTube channel. Of course we are dissecting these as well for you.
Author Note: This post was made early in the Dead Matter development and some of the information provided may be outdated at the time of reading.
New Commercial Buildings
Shirk has been working on some new sets for commercial buildings, which will be used to create shops, stores, restaurants and the like. At the risk of sounding like a broken record at this point, I still want to point out the fact that these structures are all modular, so they can be mixed and matched in a variety of ways, avoiding repetition in the game world.
Of course shops will be a prime location for scavenging supplies such as food, medicine and clothing.
Sky Overhaul
Some of you might have noticed, that up until this point, the skies in Dead Matter looked rather bland and were lacking clouds altogether. This changed now, Yadda is working on an overhaul for the sky, including clouds, crepuscular rays (aka god rays) and smooth weather transitions. For now he shared one screenshot and a short
demonstration video.
Road Cracks and Potholes
Besides the sky overhaul, Yadda also added procedurally placed cracks and potholes, which will appear along roads for a more realistic look.
Camping Trailer, Flare Gun, Door Mats
Besides the sky overhaul, Yadda also added procedurally placed cracks and potholes, which will appear along roads for a more realistic look.
FN FAL Rifle
Besides the sky overhaul, Yadda also added procedurally placed cracks and potholes, which will appear along roads for a more realistic look.
